We know you’ve been waiting a long time for news on Nougat for Robin. Today we’re rolling out our latest beta to everyone in the closed beta group. This brings a ton of improvements and some big changes that you’re sure to notice.
The first thing we know you’ll check is that we’ve updated the security patch to the January release. You may also be wondering where the heck your dialer went. We switched back to the AOSP dialer, so your icon has moved. When we release Nougat to the public, this won’t be an issue. With this change, you also get a preview of what our new dialer looks like. It’s less minty for now but has more features. We’re working on that mint part, but you’ll notice some general improvements to the OS’overall look that we’ve included including an updated camera. It has a new UI that is higher contrast and simpler.
Under the hood, we’ve made improvements to power management, Wi-Fi stability, and the upgrade speed. Of course, we fixed a bunch of smaller issues too.
So when is the final release version coming? Soon, yes soon. There is literally one issue we have to fix before we think we’re good to go, and we’re waiting on some help from a partner to wrap it up. We don’t like waiting either.
Don’t forget, our team loves your feedback and has been looking at every issue that you’ve reported, so keep bringing it! Thanks so much for helping us make Robin a better device for everyone.
