Yes, but why the heck would we do that?

Because someday you would decide that you should stop gaming around with your customers? (Razer pun is intended)

Falsely implying that Nougat will be released the in following week, and encouraging customers to use non-final softwares, are down right cruel. You are giving false hopes and have disrupted lots of lives in the process.

Probably someday you would realise the minimal progress you have made with Nougat, and that final completion is, while not impossible, is darn distant. You would pity people who have been living on buggy softwares and locked out of features, hopelessly, because you told them to. Feeling guilty, you would send an apology and an announcement, that "Nougat is done when it's done but don't wait" along with a guide for beta testers to go back to final MM if they need to. You would probably continue working in silence, without an estimation. And realise that giving up is not a bad option, either: you already stopped selling this phone and got all the money for it.

Let that sink in. It's just business.

I've also been wondering about this since I can't use Android Pay on beta software.  (Yeah, I'm probably the only guy that cares about NFC payment.)  Is there a way to re-install the last non-beta Robin build in case Nougat is cancelled?

You could flash the phone with factory image. If Android Pay is something you use, then Nougat is definitely not something to hang onto. With no visible roadmap in sight, any attempt to tolerate and suffer while waiting for final Nougat is just plainly ill-advised at this point.

Yup, they did what was best for them. You can't expect more than that.

Right now, we are working closely with Foxconn and Qualcomm to deliver Nougat. We're in the final stages of testing and certification. Resource and support for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 chip from our partners are limited at this time, hence the delay for N to roll out.  Hang in there, we've got a couple more fixes to go.

Could we know what that - ahem - one last fix is, or is Papa Triple-Headed-Snake keeping you corperate-quiet?

AFAIK, the latest Qualcomm rebase broke NFC. So that's something that wasn't anticipated since it was working on previous builds.

Ahhhh, now the delay makes sense. So, is the update team is essentially rebuilding NFC support from the ground up, or are they just waiting for another rebase?

Not sure, but it's these things that are really maddening for our team.
